Access & User Guidelines

We are excited to support your research with advanced cryo-imaging technologies at the Pathogen Cryo-Imaging Facility (PaCIFiC). To ensure a smooth and efficient experience, we have outlined key information on accessing our facility, including training requirements, booking procedures, and safety considerations. Whether you are an internal researcher at the University of Cambridge or an external academic or industry partner, we are here to guide you through the process.

Training & Booking

To maintain high standards of imaging quality and instrument care, training is mandatory for all users before gaining independent access.

  • Training is available for all interested users, covering instrument operation, data handling, and safety procedures.
  • After completing training, researchers within the University of Cambridge can book our instruments through our booking system.
  • Training, access, and services for external users (Academic or Industrial) can be arranged directly with the facility manager.

Contact us to discuss project needs and arrange for necessary training.

Biological Safety

For research involving biological samples requiring containment up to CL2 must have a risk assessment approved by the Department of Pathology’s Biological Safety Committee. The facility manager will assist you with this process.

Need assistance? Please contact us for more details on biological safety requirements and risk assessment procedures.

Access Charges

Members of the University of Cambridge will be charged at the following rate:
