Celebrating Professor Ming Du’s 2025 Doniach Lecture
Last week, pathologists across the UK and Ireland gathered for the annual Doniach Lecture, one of the Pathological Society of Great Britain & Ireland’s flagship events. This year, we were honoured to welcome Professor Ming‑Qing Du as the distinguished recipient and speaker.
According to the Society’s own announcement:
“We were honoured to welcome Professor Ming‑Qing Du (UK) as this year’s Doniach Lecturer. ”
A Voice at the Forefront of Lymphoma Research and Genomics
Professor Du, leading an active lymphoma research group at Cambridge, has made landmark contributions to the study of B‑ and T‑cell lymphomas—including MALT lymphoma, splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL), diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma (DLBCL), and angioimmunoblastic T‑cell lymphoma (AITL). His team harnesses cutting-edge DNA/RNA technologies and collaborates closely with the national Precision Medicine in Aggressive Lymphoma (PMAL) consortium to drive clinical translation.
In recognition of his outstanding scholarship and mentorship, Professor Du has been engaged by the Society through various funding schemes and collaborative initiatives.
Highlights from the Doniach Lecture
While the full recording is pending, attendees described his lecture as:
-
Brilliantly insightful, delving into the molecular underpinnings of lymphoma.
-
Clinically invigorating, outlining how genomic insights are paving the way for more precise diagnosis and treatment stratification.
-
Deeply engaging, inviting young pathologists to push boundaries in translational research.
Beyond the Lecture — A Legacy of Leadership
-
Academic Leadership: Professor Du, formerly at Surrey and Lancaster, is now a core figure in Cambridge’s Pathology Department and a University Pathology Ambassador.
-
International Scholarship: With a strong international background (Tsinghua, Oxford, Harvard), he brings a rich cross-cultural expertise to pathology.
-
Mentorship & Funding Champion: Numerous grants and PhD students have flourished under his guidance.
Once available, we recommend linking to the Doniach Lecture event page to provide further context and encourage registration for future lectures.
Congratulations, Professor Du. Your work not only advances our understanding of complex lymphomas—it uplifts an entire community of pathologists dedicated to transforming patient care.
