Meningitis update
We are aware that colleagues across the University and Colleges may have questions regarding the meningitis outbreak in Kent.
At present, the University has not been contacted by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and no additional actions have been advised.
As a precaution, colleagues may wish to familiarise themselves with the signs and symptoms of meningitis. A downloadable poster is available for student-facing staff to share where appropriate.
Students who are unwell—particularly with a high fever or flu-like symptoms lasting more than 48 hours—should be encouraged to seek medical advice from their College Nurse, GP, or by calling NHS 111.
If you have any concerns, including suspected cases, please contact the Communicable Diseases Helpdesk:
During working hours:cd-helpdesk@admin.cam.ac.uk | 01223 339514
Out of hours: 07971 102885
All media enquiries relating to meningitis should be directed to the University’s Office of External Affairs and Communications at ucnews@admin.cam.ac.uk.
