Third Year (Part II)

Part 2The Pathology Department runs two Natural Sciences Tripos (NST) courses at Part II level, one “Single-Subject” course and one course within the NST Part II Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS).

In the Part II Pathology ("Single Subject") and Part II BBS Major Subject Pathology courses, two whole-year modular options are taken from a choice of five. Students taking the Part II Pathology (“Single Subject”) course also undertake a laboratory-based research project. Students taking the Part II BBS Major Subject Pathology course are required to take an additional ‘Minor’ subject within the BBS and must also undertake a 6,000 word dissertation.

New Head of the Division of Microbiology and Parasitology

I am pleased to announce that Dr Gillian Fraser has been appointed as the new Head of the Division of Microbiology and Parasitology in the Department.  She takes over from Professor Colin Hughes, who has carried out this role for many years, and our warm thanks go to him for his long standing commitment to this role.  Colin will continue as Deputy Head of Department and Director of Teaching.

As well as a major refurbishment of the Molteno Building, a number of new appointments are already confirmed for the Division this year, and more are in the pipeline for next year, making this a particularly exciting time for M&P, and we wish Gillian well in her new role.
