Lent and Easter Term (NST)

The following blocks of lectures are a continuation of the Part IB Pathology course for Natural Science Tripos students.

Lent Term (NST): Genetic Pathology

Chromosomal abnormalities, and gene mutation and epigenetic factors cause a variety of diseases including cancer. This series of lectures are intended to illustrate the importance of human genetics in understanding disease and to demonstrate how this has been possible through the application of genomic analysis. The topics addressed in the lectures are presented in the context of the human genome project.

Easter Term (NST): Infection and Immunity

This series of lectures are intended to illustrate some of the characteristics of the host and infectious agent that may determine whether an infection is established. The lectures will cover host resistance factors, immune evasion, HIV, opportunistic pathogens, and vaccination.
