Professor Colin Hughes elected Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales
Colin Hughes ScD FLSW is Professor of Microbiology in the University of Cambridge Department of Pathology. He is Deputy Head and Director of Teaching in the department, and Head of the Division of Microbiology & Parasitology. He is a Fellow of Trinity College. His research is outlined here. Professor Hughes has been elected a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales (Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru) in its 2012 election. He was born and raised in North Wales.
The Learned Society of Wales (Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru) exists to celebrate, preserve and encourage excellence in all of the scholarly disciplines, representing the world of Welsh learning internationally and offering authoritative, scholarly and critical comment and advice on policy issues affecting Wales. Fellowship is open to those living in Wales, born in Wales or otherwise with a particular connection to Wales, who have a record of excellence and achievement in academia, or who have made a distinguished contribution to knowledge in their professional field. Most are based in Welsh universities but a number are based in other parts of the United Kingdom or overseas. The Society now has two-hundred and fifty Fellows.
