Experienced Researcher Scheme
A professional development scheme is being piloted by CPPD for research staff on their third or more contract. The scheme is informed by the use of focus groups amongst the target cohort and their managers.
Experienced researchers work with a development consultant to
- explore in depth, ways in which the individual might continue to pursue their research interest
- produce an immediate and longer term action plan
- work with the researcher to build upon key skills such as strengthening individual profiles via appropriate publication, networking and grant application strategies
- promote provision by the Careers service with respect to further help in identifying their strengths and alerting them to alternative possible career routes and opportunities
The ERS comprises the use of a pre-meeting survey, and a series of 1:1 meetings with a development consultant.
