Health and Safety
Introduction
The Department of Pathology is committed to safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of all staff, students and others who may be present in the Department, or affected by the Department’s work, so far as is reasonably practicable. As such, it is the policy of the Department to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all its staff and students. To this end, information, training and supervision is provided where necessary. Embedded companies, visitors and external contractors are obliged to follow the Departmental policies to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
The Department recognises that full compliance with all aspects of legislation relating to health and safety and radiation is essential. Therefore, health and safety standards will not be considered to be acceptable unless all legal requirements are met.
Within this section of the Pathology web site you will find the Departmental Safety Manual, the Workplace Inspection Programme and H&S Document Review Schedules, specific information on Department specific risks (radioactive, x-ray etc.) and contact information for all staff with Health and Safety roles in the Department.
